Meeke’s rally driving career began when he won a talent competition, which led to a season in the Peugeot 106 Super Cup in 2001.
His performance on a Scottish rally later that year brought him to the attention of Colin McRae who funded a British Junior Rally Championship assault in 2002, which culminated in Meeke taking the title.
A seven-event Junior WRC campaign in an Opel Corsa followed in 2003, but this was marred by a series of mechanical failures and accidents. It was a similar story in 2004, but he did enough to ensure another McRae-backed programme in 2005, this time in a Citroën C2 Super 1600. He finished every event he started and took his first class win at Rallye Monte-Carlo.
Meeke began the 2006 JWRC in a factory-supported Citroën C2. He led in Spain and Corsica and won in Germany. But with no funds to continue, Meeke switched to the Irish Championship in 2007 and managed selected outings in Super 1600 cars in 2008.
In 2009 Meeke burst back onto the international stage, winning the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in a Peugeot 207 S2000. He joined Mini’s new WRC team in 2011 but a combination of mechanical problems and driving errors meant he scored points on only two of the six rallies he started.
Budget restrictions squeezed him out of the Mini programme in 2012, but in 2013 his former Citroën team manager Yves Matton threw him a lifeline with two event trials in a DS3 world rally car. Despite crashing on both outings, Matton stood by his man and handed Meeke a full programme for 2014.

Paul Nagle was exposed to rallying from an early age: his father was a national-level co-driver and a key figure in organising events near the family home in Ireland.
Following his rally debut in 1997, Nagle’s big break came in 2001 when he became the Peugeot Super Cup champion co-driver, gaining experience of competing in the UK and France in the process. He scored a fine sixth overall alongside Gareth MacHale in Mexico 2006 but a heavy crash in Sardinia the following season curtailed their WRC campaign.
He has co-driven for Kris Meeke since 2009, but without a full-time WRC programme, Nagle kept up his WRC experience by partnering other drivers including Craig Breen in 2012 and Andreas Mikkelsen in 2013. In 2014 Nagle and Meeke reunited for a full season with Citroën.

Born in 1987, Østberg is one of the youngest drivers in the WRC. But with 20 years of motorsport experience, he’s certainly not a novice.
The Norwegian started competing aged four and steadily moved up the motorsport ladder until selecting rallying as his chosen sport in 2004. Having scored various successes at domestic level, Mads made his WRC debut in 2006 at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza WRC.
He continued to build on his WRC experience over the next few years – and added a brace of Norwegian Rally Championship titles at the same time in 2007 and 2008 – at the wheel of cars run by his family’s Adapta team.
Østberg’s big break came in 2011 when he switched to a Ford Fiesta RS WRC. He led sensationally in Sweden before eventually finishing second to factory Ford driver Mikko Hirvonen. His sixth place in the final championship standings showed what Mads was capable of.
Another impressive season followed in 2012 and that prompted the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team to recruit the Norwegian for 2013. His best results came in Sweden and Finland where he finished third.
Mads joined the Citroën factory team in 2014.

Andersson, who runs a petrol station in his native Sweden, first got into motorsport through folkrace: an entry-level form of rallycross popular in Scandinavia.
He became synonymous for co-driving namesake PG Andersson - they twice won the Junior World Rally Championship together but are not related - until the driver’s funding constraints left Jonas free to seek alternative.
He began working with Mads Østberg midway through 2009, first in a Subaru World Rally car, then, in 2011, a Ford Fiesta RS.
A successful campaign in 2012 included victory in Portugal, but after a largely frustrating time in 2013, Andersson and Ostberg announced a switch to Citroën for 2014.
