There is no way to produce a car that has no effect on the environment. But Citroën is working hard to make sure the tyre tracks we leave on the planet are among the softest in the world.
For instance:
- 24 of our models currently emit 120g/km or less CO2, including C1s, C2s, C3s and C4s. (Under Ken Livingstone’s latest proposals, all 24 of them could be London congestion - charge exempt).
- The high-technology Diesel Particulate Filter Systems fitted to all HDi C4 Picasso, Grand C4 Picasso, C5, C6, C-Crosser models and to selected HDi C4s and C8s virtually eliminate soot.
- And the unique Stop & Start technology on our C2 and C3 superminis helps to reduce urban CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by up to 27 per cent – by switching off the engine when the car comes to a standstill.
Little wonder then, that
What Car? magazine voted the C1, C2 and C3 Britain’s cleanest superminis in its November 05 issue. Or that the Government added its voice to the chorus of praise when it hailed these three cars as among the four lowest emitters of CO2 and most fuel efficient diesels available in its latest published “New car fuel consumption and emission figures”.
And it’s not only our smaller cars that fly the flag:
- The C6 saloon produces an admirably low 175g/km of CO2 through its new, efficient 173hp 2.2 HDi diesel engine.
- The C2 1.6HDi 110hp VTS only produces 119g/km of CO2, making it the best in the Hot Hatch category according to the Act on CO2 website.
- And even the large 4X4 category the C-Crosser has CO2 emissions of just 194g/km.
Indeed, today’s Citroëns are so efficient that if every car sold in the UK was a Citroën C1 HDi, CO2 emissions would be reduced by a third. And all of them are practical, affordable and stylish options for every driver.
Not only that, they all have somewhere to go when they reach the end of the road. Under European Law, car manufacturers have a responsibility to address the treatment and disposal of their vehicles at the end of their life. Citroën UK Ltd has contracted with CarTakeBack.com to guarantee that qualifying vehicles will be taken back from their last owner or keeper at no cost.
