Firmly contributing to the atmosphere of serenity and control on-board, the cabin’s meticulous soundproofing has been engineered to match acoustics found in larger executive saloons by filtering out exterior, road and aerodynamic noise.
At the front, soundproofing has been reinforced under the bonnet - to reduce engine noise and vibration at the source – and in the dashboard. Most windscreens (on HDi and certain petrol versions) are acoustic laminated, meaning that a dampening film is sandwiched between the two glass layers making up the windscreen. Around occupants, all doors benefit from a triple protection arrangement usually only found on premium executive saloons. The floor has been treated with special soundproofing elements and the whole cabin’s structure sprayed with a damping solution replacing the usual “Fusible Soundproofing Sheet” technique, thus reducing weight whilst ensuring great serenity. The friction and acoustics compatibility of adjoining components have also been carefully examined, resulting in a suppression of mechanical sounds (operation of air conditioning, automatic parking brake…) and a perfect harmony of neighbouring parts (cloth against leather parts to suppress any irritating squeaking sounds).
Conscious of our customers’ ever increasing demands in terms of sound system, Citroën have partnered with Denon – one of the finest manufacturers of high-end sound equipment – to develop an optional premium High Fidelity system. The system includes 4 especially developed 17cm woofers, four tweeters, a 100W subwoofer and a 300W digital amplifier for a supremely refined sound experience.
Essential to creating a satisfying on-board experience, C4’s Surround Sound system – fitted as standard – also offers outstanding performance.
