Body structure

The body of the Citroën C6 sets the highest standards in passenger protection, and has won five stars in EuroNCAP tests.

- Two impact absorbers at the front dissipate energy in an impact and protect the main body of the car.
- High body stiffness provides better protection in any high-speed frontal impact.

Active bonnet system*

Its active bonnet system helps the Citroën C6 do its utmost for pedestrian protection (winning maximum stars in EuroNCAP tests).

- At impact a pyrotechnic actuator raises the bonnet by 65mm in 40 milliseconds
- A shock absorber protects pedestrians and stops their head and shoulders from touching the engine

Xenon dual-function directional headlamps

At twice the brightness of halogen lights, the Bi-xenon directional headlights provide exceptional visibility at night and in poor weather to keep you and your passengers safe and sound. The lights follow the steering angle of the car so that you can see the road ahead sooner. And the white beams help make night driving less tiring.

Airbags

With nine airbags, the Citroën C6 does its utmost to keep you and your passengers safe and sound.

- Two front airbags vary their pressure and volume according to the impact.
- A knee airbag protects the driver’s legs.
- Four side airbags have all sides covered.
- Two curtain airbags protect the heads of passengers at the front and back.

Active head restraints

Active head restraints at the front of the car cradle passengers’ necks to help prevent whiplash from any rear impact.

High-performance braking

The Citroën C6 has an innovative and comprehensive braking system:

- Four large vented disc brakes
- An Anti-lock braking system(ABS) function that adjusts braking pressure electronically to stop the wheels locking
- Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) spreads braking power evenly to all four wheels
- Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA) boosts braking power instantly when the driver brakes hard
- Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) keeps the car stable if it slips when cornering
- A traction control system immediately brakes the drive wheels in a skid.

ESP

ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) helps the driver keep the car under control even in the most difficult situations:
- acts on brakeforce distribution and engine speed to keeps the car on course if it loses grip when cornering.

Lane Departure Warning System*

The Citroën C6 offers an innovative Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) to help prevent drowsiness at the wheel. It detects any unintentional lane changes at speeds of 50mph and over and vibrates the driver’s seat on the side of the drift, prompting them to get back on course.
