Behind the wheel, the word ‘responsive’ neatly and sportily sums up the C-Crosser. It’s powerful engine that delivers 156hp and plenty of torque gives it road-holding ability you just wouldn’t expect in an SUV. There are three driving modes to suit whatever the weather and road or off-road conditions throw at you.
In two-wheel drive (2WD) mode, only the front wheels are driven and it’s perfect for tarmac, guaranteeing high grip on dry roads. Four-wheel drive (4WD) mode sees the torque automatically split between front and rear axles for the best grip in tougher conditions. And finally, Lock-up mode is similar to 4WD, only with 1.5 times more torque sent to the rear axle - just what you need in snow, sand and mud. Each mode is delivered, on diesel models, via a six-speed gearbox and specially designed Michelin tyres.
