RANGE

How far can I go? Range is the term used to define what distance you can travel in a full electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle in electric mode with a fully charged battery.

ARE RANGE FIGURES REALISTIC?

The range figures we use are taken from a test procedure called WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) which was specifically developed by the European Union in 2017 to be more realistic than in the old NEDC test. This new test is based on real life driving data and therefore better reflects the true performance of a vehicle. It is important to highlight that there may be additional factors that can influence whether you will achieve it or not such as accessories fitted (post registration), variations in weather, driving styles and vehicle load.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT RANGE I CAN ACHIEVE?

All Citroën electric vehicles have a drivers display screen where you will find a predicted range figure. This figure may be lower than the maximum range available but this is due to our electric vehicles being able to analyse your recent driving history, condition of the battery and current driving conditions to estimate more accurately the achievable range. If you begin driving your Citroën with a lower energy consumption (lower speeds, fewer passengers etc.) then the range gauge will adjust accordingly throughout your journey.

WHAT IMPACTS RANGE?

Many different factors impact range, and any combination of these different factors will influence the range which you achieve on any given day. Most of these factors would equally influence the mpg you would achieve in an internal combustion engine vehicle. Some of the main factors having an impact on range are: driving style, driving speed, terrain (hills, etc), use of heating & air conditioning, acceleration, load (weight of luggage and passengers carried), temperature, and use of regenerative braking.

WHAT CAN I DO TO MAXIMISE THE RANGE?

Range can be maximised in a number of ways, by limiting the impact of the factors detailed above – for example only using heating and air conditioning when needed or not carrying unnecessary load. However, our vehicles also have a host of features designed to assist you in maximising range:

•Be guided by the indicators on the vehicle: while driving you can easily see whether your vehicle is using a lot of energy, or not and small adjustments in speed can make a big difference.
•‘B’ for Braking mode can also be selected on the gearstick, meaning your vehicle will use a higher level of regenerative braking and slow down quicker when your foot is off the accelerator. Regenerative braking slows the vehicle while harnessing the kinetic energy back into the battery – thus helping to maximise range.
•There is an e-Remote control feature within the MyCitroën app which allows you to remotely pre-heat or cool your vehicle from your smartphone. So on a hot summer day, you can switch on the pre-conditioning, so the car is an ambient temperature when you get it. So long as the vehicle is on charge, the energy will be taken from the power source, rather than the battery, therefore not impacting your driving range.
•Within the MyCitroën app you can receive personalised eco driving tips, based on your own driving data.
