STOP AND START
CITROËN have launched the first mass-market vehicle to feature the innovative Stop and Start technology. The CITROËN C3 Stop and Start combines two advanced technologies: the SensoDrive automated gearbox and an electronically controlled reversible alternator.
When the driver applies the brakes to stop the car, the engine cuts out just before the car comes to a complete standstill. A green "eco" indicator lights up on the instrument cluster. The engine remains in standby for as long as the driver keeps a foot on the brake pedal, even if the pressure is slight.
When the driver releases the brake pedal, the engine starts up again automatically and instantaneously. When the driver presses the accelerator pedal down, the clutch gradually engages (SensoDrive gearbox).
The driver can deactivate the "Stop and Start" system at any time, using the "eco off" button on the central fascia. In this case, the car will function in the same way as a conventional SensoDrive vehicle. Pressing the button again will reactivate the function. With fuel consumption and CO2 emissions reduced by around 10% over urban cycle, the CITROËN C3 Stop & Start will undoubtedly reduce owner costs and pollution in the environment.
