New Citroën Berlingo Vans Join Europcar Fleet
Vehicle hire specialist, Europcar, a brand of Europcar Mobility Group, is in the process of adding 100 New Citroën Berlingo Van models to its nationwide hire fleet. The company is also introducing Berlingo Electric vans, giving customers the opportunity to experience zero-emission electric vans themselves.
Responding to increased demand from business users for high-specification vans, Europcar Mobility Group UK has chosen New Citroën Berlingo Van Enterprise models to enhance its van fleet. The specification of New Citroën Berlingo Van in Enterprise trim gives customers a long list of standard equipment often seen in car models, making the driver journey as comfortable and efficient as possible.
Standard features include air conditioning, rear parking sensors, cruise control, speed limiter, automatic electronic parking brake, alarm, one-touch electric windows, heated and electrically-operated folding door mirrors, front fog lights with cornering function and tyre pressure monitoring. Citroën’s EXTENSO® modular folding passenger bench seat with pivoting writing table and load-through bulkhead, 8-inch colour touchscreen with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto and MirrorScreen® also mean that drivers have a flexible and connected working space.
Europcar Mobility Group UK is also receiving more interest in zero-emission vehicles for “Last Mile” deliveries and van fleets operating in low-emission zones. It is therefore adding several Berlingo Electric models to give its customers the opportunity to experience the advantages of electric LCVs, especially when operating in areas such as the London Congestion Charge zone. The Citroën Berlingo Electric will qualify for a 100% discount when the new London Ultra-Low Emission Zone comes into force in April 2019.
“The van rental market is changing”, says Martin Gurney, Groupe PSA Fleet Sales Director, “Organisations that use rental vehicles for extended periods are looking for specification that will enhance their drivers’ safe and comfortable working environment, while private van rental customers expect the comfort and convenience features of a modern car. The Enterprise versions of New Berlingo Van give Europcar customers all they could wish for.”
“The commercial vehicle needs of businesses have changed significantly in a very short space of time”, added Stuart Russell, Director of Commercial Vehicles, Europcar Mobility Group UK. “There’s a high focus on driver efficiency – particularly in relation to deliveries, but also in respect of the day to day job while on the road.
“Our customers are at the heart of what we do. We are passionate about listening to the requirements of their businesses and offering them the solutions they need. Features in the New Berlingo Van such as air-con and cruise control can make driving a much more pleasant experience. But it’s the rear parking sensors that stand out for me. They don’t cost businesses any extra and can save hundreds of pounds a year, giving drivers a level of safety and security above and beyond what they’re used to.”
New Berlingo Van’s capabilities are already well recognised and it has been racking up the awards since its launch late last year. It won the 2019 International Van of the Year award at the IAA Hanover CV Show last autumn, and in December, won the Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year and Light Van of the Year titles at the 2019 What Van? Awards. More awards followed in January with the Small Van of the Year award from Company Car and Van magazine as well as Van of the Year and Small Van of the Year at the 2019 Van Fleet World Great British Fleet Awards.
