A fully electric vehicle is likely to have lower service, maintenance and repair costs than a traditional petrol or diesel vehicle. Electric motors contain fewer than 20 moving parts meaning they are inherently reliable. Overall battery electric vehicles have thousands fewer mechanical working parts than the equivalent internal combustion engine vehicle – so there are far less parts to need attention. However, it is still essential that your vehicle is checked periodically to ensure optimum reliability, performance and safety. 

100% of an electric vehicle’s propulsion is provided by the drive motor and  battery meaning that there is no need for regular engine oil and filter changes. It is important that the other systems of the vehicle are regularly checked for wear and any items, such as pollen filter, brakes, wiper blades or tyres, are replaced when required. 

 

For plug-in hybrid vehicles, you can take advantage of reduced running costs, and are likely to be able to run on electric only power for a large amount of your journeys.

Available as an affordable monthly fixed fee, or a one off up-front payment, our service plans are fixed – offering you the best price. All work will be carried out by a Citroën trained technician, using only Citroën parts – carrying a minimum 12 month warranty.

The Citroën service plan is available in various different contract lengths offering flexibility.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY ELECTRIC VEHICLE?

In order to keep your electric vehicle in optimum condition it is recommended that you visit your local Citroën Authorised Repairer regularly in line with the recommended service schedule.

For our battery electric cars, this is generally every 2 year or 16,000 miles (whichever comes first) Please check your vehicle service book for the correct information.

WHAT KIND OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE CAN I EXPECT?

Regular maintenance for an electric vehicle is very similar to that or a petrol or diesel vehicle. Wear and tear items such as: tyres, brakes, wipers and bulbs will need replacing as the vehicle ages. Suspension components may also need replacing throughout a vehicles life dependant on use and mileage. An electric vehicle requires coolant to ensure that its battery stays in its optimum operating range, so this will need changing periodically to aid longevity and range.
