ARE ELECTRIC COMMERCIAL VEHICLES PRACTICAL?

Despite our developing range of passenger electric vehicles (EVs) and tech, Citroën is also committed to business drivers and supporting them in the transition to electric. Here, we dispel the reliability myths around electric vans and highlight how suitable they could be for you and your company.

Are there any electric vans?

Citroën’s EV offering isn’t exclusive to private owners, but also has something for commercial motorists – from company car drivers to tradespeople and delivery firms.

From the Ami-Cargo to the largest ë-Relay van, there’s a Citroën electric van in each segment, contributing to our goal of bringing electric mobility to the masses. Whether you’re delivering flowers around town or carrying out a removal, our commercial EVs will do the job. And sitting between those is the Citroën ë-Berlingo, winner of the What Car? Best Small Van award.

Find out more on the different options available on our Electric for Professionals hub, or read below for more specifics on the models.

How practical are electrical commercial vehicles?

The ë-Dispatch is ideal for city-centre deliveries, for example. It comes in two battery sizes – a 50kWh with 143 miles of range and 75kWh option with 205 miles of range. Both are calculated on the WLTP cycle.

For larger loads, the ë-Relay is the clear choice. Available in three lengths, it has a loading volume of up to 15m3 and also comes with a choice of two battery capacities, 37kWh and 70kWh, for a range of up to 139 miles ( WLTP). With the advantage of 100% electric also comes complete compliance with low-emissions zones – even travelling through the busy capital doesn’t need a second thought.

Via a rapid charger, the ë-Relay can be charged to 80% in only one hour – for both the 37kWh battery and the higher-capacity 70kWh option.

There's also the recently confirmed Ami Cargo available in the UK in 2022, for urban logistics in the most compact package. It's powered by the same 5.5kWh battery as the standard Ami, but with a 400-litre capacity and maximum payload of 140kg. That is in part thanks to the storage area that replaces the passenger seat, which also doubles as a desk. The Ami Cargo has a range of up to 46 miles and full ULEZ exemption in London.

Electric company cars

Company car drivers will find the same benefits as private customers on the likes of the fully electric Citroën ë-C4 and C5 Aircross Plug-In Hybrid. In the case of the latter, an 80kW electric motor combines with a 1.6-litre petrol engine for 225hp and added peace of mind on range.

The C5 Aircross Plug-In Hybrid can also travel up to 34 miles on electric alone (WLTP figures), meaning short journeys and commuting may be possible without any input from the petrol engine.
